Police Spokesperson Charles Owino Transferred In The Recent Changes By The IG Mutyambai

National Police Service Spokesperson Charles Owino
National Police Service Spokesperson Charles Owino was reportedly transferred in the recent changes by Inspector General Hilary Mutyambai.

He was moved to the Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons (KNFP) and named the deputy director.

According to The Star Newspaper, The National Police are in the process of finding Owino’s replacement.

Among those who could replace Owino are current NPS deputy spokesman Charles Kosgey and Trans Nzoia County police commander Fredrick Ochieng, the statement said.

Owino is known for protecting the police service and has always been sober in matters touching the police morality and matters governance.

He announced in February this year that he has an interest in joining other candidates who are also eyeing the Siaya Gubernatorial position come 2022.

“For now I am still in office and cannot delve much into matters of politics. What you should understand is that retirement is a process and at 60 years it is called forced retirement but from 50 you can retire early from public service,” He said.

Owino who studied Political Science and communication said that he understands Kenya’s politics well and won’t find it difficult to understand what is required to get into politics.

“I studied political science and communications at university and so I understand what politics is,”

“I will ensure that sustainable projects like water projects are initiated for the benefit of our people. With my tenure, I will transform Siaya to be the best county because I have the brains to do so.” He said.

Owino is planning to run with the ODM party and he is likely to battle it out with Opiyo Wandayi and James Orengo in the nominations phases.
